24-HOUR ADORATION WITH THE LORD
Friday 22nd - Saturday 23rd May
Members of all our communities came together at St Joseph's Church, Epsom, for a 24-HOUR VIGIL FOR PENTECOST.
Regular Daily Mass on Friday morning, celebrated by Fr Gary Carter and Fr Simon Hall, was followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and private prayer ...
The Vigil, maintained throughout Friday and overnight, included:
> multiple decades of the Rosary prayed together; during the day and late evening;
> worship with and by Year 6 children from St Joseph's School, led by Fr Gary;
> an hour of "Accompanied Worship", with sacred organ music;
> a Holy Hour of Prayer with and for the recently-confirmed, led by Fr Chris, focusing on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and how we all - including the 120 young people recently confirmed in deanery services - respond to them;
> an hour of "Worship through Music", with hymns, psalms and sacred songs led by singers from many of our local choirs, coming together as "Epsom Deanery Singers";
> Night Prayer, led by Fr Gary;
> the opportunity for individual Sacrament of Reconciliation, with thanks to all our deanery clergy who celebrated.
The Vigil concluded with Benediction (led by Fr Gary), Daily Mass (10:00, concelebrated by Canon Bill, Fr Chris, Fr Gary, Fr Simon Hall & Fr Simon Iduh) and refreshments in the hall.
Fr Simon Hall, on behalf of the Leadership Team, recorded "grateful thanks to all those who throughout the Deanery helped arrange and facilitate our shared time of Eucharistic Adoration. To prayer leaders, musicians,
those who signed up, those who 'popped' in, and the clergy, our appreciation.
The fruits of this time we leave with the Lord and who knows maybe it is something we can do again ..."
